Chad Canerday and the his crew at Chad’s Auto Glass in Visalia, California, are no strangers to building show-quality cars. They have multiple showstoppers under their belts including a 1957 Buick that now calls Australia its home. When it came time to build another showstopper they decided to go with this 1966 Cadillac deep blue Coupe DeVille.
The 1965-’68 Coupes came with stacked headlights instead of horizontal; this gave Cadillac room to stretch the grilles. The Coupes also came with the V-8 429ci engines that pushed out 340 horsepower, but for Chad and his crew this wouldn’t be enough. When they began their build they decided to go with a reliable full-injected LS. They added a polished Weiand Air Ram intake manifold and CPP brake booster to it. They finished off the engine compartment by dressing up the LS with a Billet Specialties serpentine kit.
When it came time for paint the crew decided that it would look better if they went with a solid color. They decided to go with a blue pearl and candy from PPG’s Vibrance Collection to give it that custom finish. Khaki colored vinyl was used on the custom interior to complement the fresh paint. Adding 22-inch Raceline Explosion wheels with Continental 22s finished off the build. Chads custom shop has a haven of Cadillacs ready to be customized on his assembly line and we have plans to go back and capture a few more “rad Cads” to represent our featured segment of Roll Playerz. Thanks go out to all involved in the build and the hospitality given during the shop tour.
