Thomas Sisneros is a lucky guy. When “V-Max” brought this beauty of a ’61 Chevy Impala SS to the Phoenix, Arizona, Lowrider Tour show in March of this year, Thomas caught him at just the right time. V-max had a series of projects going and wanted to be able to better fund them so he was willing to part with one of his “babies.” This car would be any man’s dream, though, so it wouldn’t have been hard at all to find a home for it. This ’61 convertible has enough going for it to make it “Every Hater’s Dream,” a name that aptly fits the car.
A look into the trunk reveals plenty of smoothed-out fiberglass, and a custom-made Chevy “bowtie” tank with three pumps attached to it for a special look. Four hidden batteries, a couple of subs and a couple of TVs also call the trunk home. Hard-lines keep the look clean and uniform, and make you well aware that V-Max went all out on this one. But that’s only the beginning of the list that has the haters mumbling under their breath.
Raise the hood and here we go again with something to nauseate the haters. There’s more power in this engine compartment than most lowriders know what to do with. A Corvette donated its LS6 motor and connected to that is a 460 LE tranny. At about 400 HP, this ’61 puts out some man-size power and is ready to go at a moment’s notice. Racing against this car certainly isn’t a wise idea unless you’re keen to losing a couple hundred dollars.
Detail on this ’61 is all that you could ask for, as well, with this car having been gone over with the proverbial fine-tooth comb. All in all, Thomas was, is and will probably always be glad to own a car that can claim that it’s Every Hater’s Dream… or should we say nightmare?

Engine/Drivetrain: This ’61 features a 2006 Chevy Corvette LS6 engine with custom headers, Magnaflow exhaust, 460 LE transmission and a Jaguar rearend connected to a customized Chevy X-frame. All work was performed by “V-Max” and “Tee” at Ultimate Hydraulics in Norco, California.
Body/Paint: The bodywork and PPG pastel blue paint was done by Louie at Louie’s Kustom Kandies in Riverside, California. The firewall was shaved and the hood and frame were molded. The pinstriping was put down by Mike Lamberson of Riverside while the murals are the work of “Earn Money” at Artistic Air in Anaheim, California.
Interior: The interior was reworked with original cloth material and patterns by Tony at Roman’s Upholstery in La Puente, California. The blue cloth top features a suede headliner with a raised Impala emblem and a chrome frame.
Sound System: A JVC head unit, two Orion West Coast Customs amps, four Pioneer 6.5-inch coaxial mids and two 12-inch Kicker subs were installed by V-Max, Tee, Jeremy and “Bear” at Ultimate Hydraulics. Two 7-inch screens rest in the visors and two 10-inch monitors sit in the trunk along with a surveillance camera.
Setup: V-Max and Tee at Ultimate Hydraulics teamed up on a custom-made block and tank in the shape of the Chevy “bowtie” that holds a three-pump, hard-lined setup with 8-inch (front) and 10-inch (rear) cylinders, four batteries and four switches. The suspension features rack and pinion steering, and Ford Mustang II upper and lower A-arms.
