With an MSRP of $160,724 (if you’re lucky to get it for that), the Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder is a must have if you want to play in the Hollywood scene. But beyond its ability to race at local tracks and fly through gala events, a Ferrari is a status symbol which needs no alarm, as you’ll already have plenty of people already watching it for you.

We got a chance to take out CEC Showroom’s very own Novitec Rosso Ferrari 360 Modena and the results were as entertaining as they were exciting. With Victor Carrillo (the VP of marketing for CEC) piloting the vehicle, we took a 35-mile trip through the city streets of Los Angeles, California, as we made passes by some of L.A.’s most frequented tourist stops. From the Avenue of the Stars in Century City, Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive to Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade, the Novitec 360 captured its fair share of attention.
To show you the extensive high-dollar car culture of Los Angeles it was interesting to see just how many other exotic cars we ran across, or should we say “passed,” on this particular day. From Lamborghinis to other Ferraris, it seemed to not only be just another typical day in L.A., but also a huge indication as to the wealth (both old and new) which surrounds the “City of Angels.”
The aggressive purr emanating from the tuned exhaust was matched by performance of equal caliber. The twin-supercharger setup improved the V-8’s performance, while the centerlocking wheels, body kit and accessories provided the icing on the cake. We could go on forever explaining the awesome performance of the 500+hp engine (down tuned because of the need for higher-octane gas) but that’s better left to track testing by magazines that specialize in the “figures.”
Rather, we felt it necessary to give you a glimpse into the amount of attention that this vehicle generates while also providing you with a “feel” for what its like to cruise a car that costs more than many peoples homes, that is if you don’t live in L.A. where an average home is not a bit over $400,000.
The stares were apparent and the look of disgust quite common as we stopped at each intersection. “How much did that cost?” and “What do you do?” were the most common questions, but the most ironic comment came from a Ferrari 355 Spyder owner who said, “Nice car. But too bad you don’t have the six-speed transmission.”
It was obvious that he knew exactly what he was talking about. He continued by saying, “I have a 360 at home but I have the six-speed transmission. Now that’s a real transmission.” With that said, we both sat back and had a quick laugh before we the light turned green. I mean, he did have a point, but, hey, it’s not car so we didn’t take it personally.
Regardless, the Novitec Ferrari made an impression to everyone besides the Ferrari connoisseur himself, but we’re not mad at him; it was, of course, true. But again, if we were to line up against him at a stoplight shootout, we’re positive that we’d have him smoked by city blocks. If you don’t believe us then look at the performance specs.
