Old Memories is a car club know for preserving a sacred time in American automobiles, as their credo has been to keep their club members’ cars and trucks in their original states with enough era-correct accessories to start a museum. Naturally, the build of this ’49 Chevy truck followed suit, as Henry Morales, of Bellflower, CA., spent a good two years fixing up his truck to restore it back to its former glory. Henry came across this truck at the Pomona swap meet for $3,000, and he knew he had to jump on the deal. With the truck back home, Henry and his fellow club members turned his driveway into an assembly line as they began to work on the ’49. Henry and buddy Frank Ventura worked on the 235 Engine, which had been transplanted. In order to make sure that the engine was breathing correctly, they added Fenton Headers and straight pipes, which purred to a beat once the Rochester carburetor was tuned. In due time, the truck received a new paintjob using a Dupont mint green, which was sprayed by Epstein’s of Montebello. The interior received new life after the truck was painted, as Mike added the original style interior. The truck doesn’t disappoint in terms of era-correct accessories, either. Thanks to his fellow club members, swap meets, and other different outlets, Henry loaded this beauty with just about every factory option! In Henry’s build you can see the Fulton visor, grill guard, fender spears, Fulton side shields, butterfly steering wheel, Artillery wheels, flashlight and holder, GM fan and hat holder—just to name a few. Henry’s blood, sweat, and tears really paid off, as his two-year project looks like it came straight off the factory in 1949. We will have to see what is next for Henry, as he is diligently working on his next project, a 1938 Master Deluxe.
