Serafin Romero’s 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King

A new challenge brought about a new challenger who was in it to win it—and that's exactly what took place.

Since 2008, Serafin “Pelon” Romero has been a part of the lowrider game. Building everything from hoppers to a Regal and even a 1962 Impala, he’s long been an avid and active member of the lowrider scene. But a chance encounter with a partially rebuilt 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King would send him down a different path.

Although he had toyed with the idea of building a lowrider-style bike, it wasn’t until that fateful day that his desire would turn into a reality. But building a Harley came with a whole new set of challenges, but he was up for it. Pulling from his previous experiences, he was off to conquer the game and once he got the bike back home it was time to play.

No detail would go overlooked and everything on this bike would receive his full attention. “I knew I couldn’t cut any corners,” Pelon says. Take for instance his gauges. All of his gauges were taken apart, revamped, and flaked and painted with a custom blend of House of Kolor Candy Apple Red matching the rest of the bike. With the custom 21-inch front and 16-inch rear billet spoke wheels ordered from Dirtbag Baggers, the attention turned to all those tiny details that make each build unique. Accenting pinstripes, Candy Red anodizing, and multi-colored flake was just the beginning. A 32-inch fishtail exhaust would be added to complement the rear air-ride suspension installed by Crazed Customs. Additional modifications include 4-inch extended bags and a complete Pioneer audio stereo system with 6×9 speakers.

Pelon has continued his tradition of winning. Since the completion of his latest project, he has placed at every show he’s attended. Among those trophies was First Place at the prestigious Las Vegas Super Show. “I had a vision for the bike, but thanks to all those involved we went beyond anything any of us ever expected,” Pelon says. “But stay tuned for more changes,” he explains. This lowrider game is never over.
