Thirty-six-year-old Brent Reese of Covina, California, always knew he wanted a lowrider of his own; he just didn’t know what kind he should go with. As an employee of Impalas Inc, one thing was for sure, Brent didn’t want a mainstream lowrider. After looking at all his options, Brent chose to go with a classic 1955 Chevy Bel Air that he came upon for only $5,500. Now known as the second generation of its kind, the ’55 model introduced all-new styling and power from a Ferrari-inspired grille to the Bel Air name script in gold lettering to a V-8 engine option, amongst other new features.
The car was assembled by Sammy Morales in El Monte, California, who had it built and fully loaded within an astonishing eight months. Manuel Rojos of Downey, California, worked on the 265 engine with a 350 turbo transmission. Big Frank of JB Machine in North Carolina installed the Pesco 2805 aircraft hydraulic system inside Brent’s garage. The complete system hosted Hydro Air dumps, four switches, four Delco Tar Top batteries, eight hoses, and Pesco pumps that consisted of 6-inch cylinders in the front and 8-inch cylinders in the rear.
While the frame remains stock, chassis work and a custom bridge suspension were done by some of Brent’s friends out in Paramount, California. Saul Teran of Terans Autobody in the city of El Monte did the bodywork and added a two-tone coral/gray paintjob. Meanwhile, Freddy of Bowtie Connect in San Pedro, California, took care of the interior. Gordo of 562 Kustoms installed the audio system, which consisted of an Alpine head unit, Fosgate amps, and JBL mids. Lastly, “The King of Bel Air” was completed with Dayton tires that were accompanied by 22-inch Dayton chrome wire wheels.
