Chris Najera from Arleta, California, is a proud member of the Majestics Car Club and has proudly owned numerous ’66 Impalas. The black ’66 you see here is a product of his upbringing. Chris and his older Brother Kenny were born and raised into lowriding by their father Henry. Chris is also a mechanic by trade. When he set out to purchase and build another ride, his preferred choice was this Impala of course, and this one came to him in exchange for the amount of $3,000.
The car was in pretty good shape to begin with, but like all mechanics you only trust what you fix or trust someone who is family. So his older brother jumped in as part of the tag team to help the build toward completion, which would take only a couple months. The body was pulled away from the frame to be stripped and etched in primer, while the door handles, emblems, mirrors, and cowl were shaved as the body became prepared for the paintjob.
At the same time, the frame was wrapped and powdercoated so that the suspension and engine compartment would be replaced and upgraded with all of the latest and greatest aftermarket accessories and products available. Though this classic is from 1966, the undercarriage and underhood were transformed over to 2014 technology. An inventory that includes a Chevy Performance crate motor and transmission, ABS disc brakes, tubular A-arms, MSD wiring, and CFR pulley kit with an Edelbrock intake are just a few of a long list of products on the car.
Anodizing, powdercoating, chrome, and polishing are everywhere and evident in this build. When it came time to paint the ride, black was chosen so that all of the aftermarket parts would be noticed. Once the body was mounted back on the frame, everything around the exterior was assembled in detail format, as well as the interior that received a Dakota Digital dash and an ididit chrome column to complement the OG-style black interior kit.
Upon completion, this black beauty made its way out to the Las Vegas SEMA show’s CFR Performance Product booth and was a huge hit as well as a crowd favorite. While looking at this Impala, there is no arguing that it was built to look as best as it could be, and these pages will prove that.
