Back in the day, it was common to find your next ride through the classified section of the local paper or the regional AutoTrader. Maybe that next ride would be sitting in a high-profile parking lot with a “for sale” sign on the window or it could just be as simple as word-of-mouth. Today, it seems more common that people are wheelin’ and dealin’ online. Take for example, one of the most well-known and largest Internet marketplaces, eBay, where more than three-million cars have been sold since its inception.

It was there that Oscar Segura of Anaheim, California, found this clean Lincoln Mark V that a fellow lowriding gentleman named Alex Prado was selling. Oscar was determined to get this rare convertible from Alex and offered him a trade: his ’94 Cadillac Fleetwood and an ‘80 Cadillac Fleetwood (with the Euro clip) for the Lincoln. Alex agreed and Oscar-the founder of Klique Car Club’s Orange County (est. in 1989) and Phoenix, Arizona, chapters-was the new owner of this large two-door luxury ride.

The bumpers, grille and some moldings were re-chromed by Pete Tapia at Anaheim Plating. A slick Budnik steering wheel was installed, and to finish out that elegant touch in the interior, Hector Hernandez added some gold and silver leafing on the dashboard.

Oscar sends big thanks to Alex Prado, who got a good head start on this Lincoln, and to good friend Hector Hernandez, who has already helped a lot with customizing this silver lowride. Up next, Oscar plans to turn his attention to the undercarriage, adding a lot more chrome! Until then, he’s already set for the streets, cruising Orange County in style and uniqueness.

Mark Vs in this kind of condition are rare, especially convertibles. Oscar, who has been known among the local lowriders to have built many fine rides, says that he’s holding on to this baby, so don’t plan to see it up for online auction any time soon!

Body/Paint: Tony Hernandez at Fine Cars Body Shop in Santa Ana, California, did any necessary body work before the “Kandy Platinum” paint was sprayed over the ride’s exterior. Pinstriping legend Mike Lamberson of Riverside, California, added some elegant touches of striping and leafing along the body’s fine lines. Oscar had Mike’s work finished off the right way by having Alex Placentia of Cali’s Auto Body in Fullerton, California, re-clear the body, encasing the striping under a smooth glass-like finish.

Interior: Mario at SoCal Upholstery in Santa Ana took care of the total interior make-over. The old red interior was replaced with black leather seats, new black carpet and black convertible top.

Sound System: Good friend Julio Mendoza of Ontario, California, and Sueos Car Club installed a 12-inch woofer, two midrange speakers and four tweeters, all powered by an Alpine amplifier and controlled by an Alpine CD player head unit.

Setup: A simple lay and play hydraulic setup was installed by friend Herman also of Anaheim with 8-inch cylinders at all four corners. Two hydraulic pumps, two dumps and four switches make up the rest of the setup. The frame was left stock, not reinforced, because just cruising low and slow was the goal in mind for this ride!
