1955 Murray Pedal Plane – D-Macks Airlines

Daniel Martinez's 1955 pedal plane is easily the top gun!

Daniel Martinez may only be 6 years old, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one ace of a pilot! With the help of his parents and an investment of two years and a few thousand dollars, this little plane now has big appeal. Daniel’s grandparents paid the initial purchase price of this classic 1955 Murray pedal plane of only $100. After Daniel inherited the plane, his father went right to work, completely transforming the pursuit airplane into an eye-catching, dog-fighting masterpiece. Any work Dad couldn’t do at home would be outsourced to specialists in the game. Everything was made over or upgraded with new interior, chrome, engraving, paint, and even airbrushed murals.

Jaime Valdez of Unique Auto Customs in Hesperia, California, took on the task of bodywork preparation before ultimately laying down a beautiful metallic blue finish. Mike Lamberson, the famous pinstriper of Riverside, California, hand-painted his fine lines and leafing on the plane’s body, while the talented Sal Elias of Orange County, California, airbrushed murals based on characters from the blockbuster movie Toy Story. Henry’s Customs in Azusa, California, stitched up a custom biscuit-upholstered seat with light blue piping. A glass crown (to represent the Uniques Car & Bike Club logo) was added for the final royal touch. AP Show Chrome of Anaheim, California, did the chrome plating upgrades for the rims, dashboard, propeller, and side moldings. The elegant engraving was ultimately done by none other than Mr. Jaime Castaneda.

Daniel says he is very thankful to everyone who helped him in getting this iron eagle project off the ground—literally! He gives a special, loving thanks to his mom and dad for their help and support.
