At roughly 7:30 a.m. there’s a line about 10 deep in front of the Warehouse Shoe Sale in Montebello, CA. With sleepy eyes, anxious nerves and an atmosphere of paranoia, they’re all peering into the windows in hope of catching a glimpse of a salesperson.
Even though the store is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. all these eager patrons are eagerly awaiting the launch of one of Nikes hottest limited edition runs of their ever so popular Air Force Ones.
Labeled by Nike freaks as the “[cars name=”Laser”]” Series Air Force One, these particular shoes were designed in a joint effort between Nike and Mister Cartoon. With his flair for keeping his designs street and very urban, Cartoon created a design which was literally laser etched into the leather of the shoes and a design to burn holes into the record books as the shoes were sold out in a mere 10 minutes.
But as successful as his line of shoes is, the best part of his new shoe is the fact that he is a successful Latin artist that has not only taken his talents to Hollywood but also to the streets. From his brilliant airbrush designs to his custom lowriders, Cartoon is a man of many talents and a master of all of them. From tattoos, airbrushing all the way to custom built lowriders; Mister Cartoon has changed the face of the shoe game and given us a fresh perspective on something that he’s being doing for years. Congrats.
