Fernando Garcia started drawing when he was 5 years old. He learned to master his skills by watching his uncle draw while he was still living in Mexico. At the age of 10, his family moved to Los Angeles, California, for a fresh start. After a few years, he started working in the family business, Starz Furniture, located in Whittier, California. By learning the craft of wood furniture design, he started to experiment with woodburning tools. Soon enough, he started to draw on blank skate decks and people started to notice his craft. The elaborate wood decks can take anywhere from 40 to 80 hours to complete depending on the design and amount of detail. With woodburning tools, you have to be precise since there is no way of fixing any mistakes. Fernie would like to thank his wife and daughter for always being supportive and patient while he works on his craft. To check out more of his work, look him up on Facebook by Fernie Garcia.
