How To Make The Chevy Impala A Lowrider!

The Chevy Impala makes for a good lowrider. If it’s the 1964 model that’s in your possession, you’re onto a good thing. We are going to take such a vehicle and go through the process of making it into a lowrider. Let’s start with the hydraulics.

Lowrider hydraulics are something not seen on any car before. The driver is able to alter the height of their vehicle when they feel like it. Not only does the auto rock from side to side, but some can also move in a front to back motion.

This type of system can be bought. There are companies that design them with lowriders in mind. A lowrider car show is another place that would advertise these kits. This hydraulic system was first used to regulate wing flaps on an aircraft.

The interior of our Impala is not left out either. Quite often leather, tweed or velvet is used to reupholster. Quite often wood grained panels are used in conjunction with enamel paint on the lowrider car.

Then there are a multitude of accessories. Neon lights, mirrors suitable for applying cosmetics. Gold and chrome fittings are also used. Let’s not forget about the chain link steering wheel or the iconic fuzzy dice that hang in many lowrider cars.

Lowrider cars now have fitted into them television sets. DVD players have found their way in too. And with wireless readily available a PC is only a matter of time.

Now the outside of the lowrider Impala is up for a facelift. Here anything goes. The owner is only limited by their imagination. The hardened enthusiast will take the paint down to bare metal.

Now a coat of primer is applied. Next a design and desired finish is discussed with the painter. A mural could well be what you want. Brush painted by hand, or the more modern airbrush. Then we have the pinstripes and those ever present flames. More bright colors with vibrant reds glowing all over the lowrider car show.

What are we going to do about the wheels? Are the spokes going to be gold or chrome? Will they be able to hide out of sight when the body is at its lowest point? There is no end to your options when it comes to lowrider cars!
