As we ring in the new year of 2008, let’s not forget the places, times and moments that we shared this past year. We put out 12 strong monthly issues, plus our 30th Anniversary special, the Best of the ’70s special, our first ever Readers’ Low Rides, the ever-popular Lowrider Girls, and of course the mount-on-your-wall Calendar! Cruisin’ through the pages of the past 12 months we saw the second annual Hall of Fame celebration, the Las Vegas Super Show, the “Guns ‘N’ Roses” magenta ‘62 Impala, many beautiful models, coverage from the Sema Show, the Audio/Video Guide, Dumps and Bumps, featured vehicles from across the USA, stories on the passing of pioneers and painters who left us too soon but whose legacies will live on, a retro look into the 1970s, more beautiful models, tech straight From The Hood, the Miami show, the Majestics Car Club issue, the Phoenix and San Diego shows, the Rollerz Only issue, and the Denver and Houston shows. We also slipped into the “Darkside” in a ’58, and let’s never forget the bomb on the cover of the December issue. The year 2007 was and will always be one for the books!

A new season and a new year bring a new round of promises or resolutions. You can try to kick some old habits, like smoking, drinking or not going to church. Some might decide that this is the year to finally tie the knot or just tie that hydraulic hose that continues to drag under your frame. My resolution, though placed back in April (when I first started as Editor), was to bring respect to our religion of lowriding. You can’t fly without leaving the ground. And that’s where we’ve started- ground up, frame off! The staff and I will install passion, dedication and class to the art of lowriding. The best is yet to come.

We break into the year with a shocking pink ’70 Buick Riviera with skirts, a one-of-a-kind vehicle from Klique Car Club’s San Diego chapter. The Lowrider Tour continued its path due north with car show visits in Portland, Oregon, and San Mateo, California, with qualifying deadlines coming up on those lowrider enthusiasts trying to compete for the prestigious titles to be given out at the Las Vegas Super Show. This month, we also introduce retro style tech with retro cams, retro hydros and retro LED taillights. And last but definitely not least, check out the new “Goldfinger” sweepstakes ’62 Chevrolet Impala, which was given away to a lucky reader by Lowrider Magazine and Lowrider Car Care. Yes, we gave away something in gold worth $25,000!
