Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday of every May. The holiday is meant to serve as a reminder to honor all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving our country. The day was originally called Decoration Day and was established to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died during the Civil War.

In the lowrider community of Northern California, the three-day weekend represents the start of the car show season; as the Socios car club has chosen the Sunday before Memorial Day to have their annual show. This year’s event marked the 11th annual show, and the attendance for the show was as strong as ever, with 700 car entries. Cars came from as far as Reno, Nevada, and Los Angeles to participate in the Socios show. The high attendance comes as no surprise either, as the Socios show has grown to the point of becoming the largest free car show in NorCal. The status of the show has surpassed even the expectations of the club, whose only intentions were to give their community a free event to enjoy. That said; make sure to grab your sunblock and head out next year!
