On December 5, 2009, 10 Lowrider Car Clubs united to host the 4th annual Lowrider Banquet/Toy Drive, which was held at the Moose Lodge 424, located in Berwyn, Illinois. The ten clubs that participated in this year’s event included Amistad C.C., Nice Dreams C.C., Pedal Scrapers B.C., Pesados C.C., Phsycos Dreams C.C., Solitos C.C., Southside Cruisers C.C., Street Style C.C., Viejitos C.C N. IL., and the Young Riders B. C..

This event was initiated 3 years ago as a way for the Lowrider community to close out the season by giving something back to their town. The idea was first implemented by Rick Montez and his Young Riders B.C, as they organized the initial event which welcomed over 150 attendees, all of whom donated toys as admission to the event. This event has now evolved into a “look forward to” annual event, thanks to the hard work and efforts that the local Lowrider clubs put forth.

This year’s event carried on tradition by playing host to nearly 400 attendees, who helped to make this year’s toy drive a large success, as they donated over 1000 toys to the needy children of the region. The event was filled with good food, great music, and a free raffles which included toys that not even Santa and his helpers could afford to miss out on. Santa and his helpers made their appearance in the event space, and the attending kids all lined up for a picture with him. He treated the kids with surprises from his bag full of candy and spoiled them with lots of cool goodies! Low Passion Car Club also walked away smiling, after winning a $225 cash prize.

All in all, the Lowrider community came through once again, and their support helped put smiles on the faces of many surrounding communities’ less fortunate children.

We would like to thank the Moose Lodge 424 of Berwyn for sponsoring this event by hosting it inside their hall. We would also like to send out thanks to Ed Calderon for capturing this year’s precious moments with his camera, and last but not least, we would like to salute the entire Lowrider community, and all of the family and friends who lent a helping hand to make this year’s event such a success. We are grateful for the community’s support over the course of the past 4 years; we couldn’t do it without their donations, cooperation, and support. Que Viva Nuestra Cultural!

Gracias… See You All Next Year!
