San Gabriel Valley Chapter
The Big 20th Anniversary Celebration
In 1989, Noah Hipolito showcased his 1948 Chevy Fleetline, “Gumby 48,” at a Lowrider Tour show in Pomona, California for the first time. Oldies Car Club veteran Ricardo Alvarado was at the show, and took notice of the car as well as its owner, Noah. Taken by his craftsmanship, as well as his enthusiastic demeanor, Ricardo approached Noah about starting a chapter in the San Gabriel Valley. The rest, as they say, is history. Fast-forward to 2009, and the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of Oldies Car Club is celebrating their 20th year anniversary!

The club decided that the best way to commemorate this outstanding achievement was to get the various chapters of the club together, along with some fellow car clubs, and have a party. There was certainly cause for celebration, and the SGV chapter of Oldies certainly did it in style! The club held the festivities at the luxurious Marriott in Monrovia, California. Decorated in the classic Oldies CC colors of Black & Gold, the grand ballroom was at capacity, with everyone in attendance looking to help the chapter celebrate their anniversary.

The night started off with a social hour, featuring mariachis serenading those in attendance. After dinner was served, awards were presented to the San Gabriel Valley chapter members, as well as to the family members of Oldies riders, who also help the club with various duties. Chapter President Noah and Vice President Junior honored the Oldies chapters in attendance, and presented a special memorial keepsake to the widow of Louie Gonzalez, who unfortunately passed away in early 2009.

After the awards and group photos came a slide show, and then the Cholo DJ turned the music up, and Oldies CC danced and socialized until the early morning. Congratulations to the San Gabriel Valley chapter of Oldies Car Club on your 20th anniversary. We wish you many more years of success in Lowriding, and thank you for the contributions you have made to our culture!
