Almost since birth, John Zamora has customized anything with wheels he could get his hands on. Legend has it John lowered his stroller to make it cooler than all the other strollers parked at the playground. The addiction kicked into high gear in High School in Albuquerque, NM with his first car, a 1969 Mustang Fastback, which he still owns today. When one of his friends purchased a sportbike in the early ‘90s, all it took was a single ride for the two-wheel terror to quickly take over. John’s mother was less than thrilled about this new obsession and refused to let him buy a motorcycle until he was 21. Well, one day after his 21st birthday, the biker was born and he never looked back.
After years of riding in the hills of Southern California, John caught his eye on an emerging magazine called Super Streetbike. He wrote the editor and was given his first big break. At the time, the only thing he liked more than bikes was girls and the marriage of the two in his first assignment would eventually change his life.
A couple years later John was hired on full time as the Associate Editor at Super Streetbike where he rode, photographed and wrote about people, places and motorcycles all around the world. He developed a reputation as the go-to guy for model/bike photoshoots. As John grew older, he began to care less about going fast and more about making his bikes look as good as they rode.
In 2011, John’s childhood dream came true as a position opened at Lowrider Magazine as the Editor of Girls. He jumped at the chance to join the iconic team. Currently John serves as the Editor of Lowrider Girls, Feature Editor of Lowrider and Lowrider Arte. He also is Editor of a new magazine launching in early 2012.
